Who can get OS X El Capitan?

Anyone with an Apple computer using Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite can upgrade to OS X El Capitan. The system requirements for El Capitan are the same as those for Yosemite. For a full list of hardware requirements, view the OS X Technical Specifications.

Is Os X El Capitan Still Supported

If you have an earlier version of OS X (such as Leopard), you cannot upgrade to OS X El Capitan.

How do I get OS X El Capitan?

If you buy a new Apple computer, it will come pre-installed. You won't need to do anything to install it.

If you want to upgrade an existing computer, you can download and install OS X El Capitan by going to the App Store on your Mac (shown below) and clicking Updates.

OS X El Capitan is only available as an online download—you cannot purchase a physical copy at a retail store.

What's new in OS X El Capitan?

Each new version of OS X generally includes several new features, and El Capitan is no exception. Some of the most important changes include:

• Improved window management: If you like to use multiple applications at the same time, the new Split View feature allows you to quickly split two windows between the entire screen. There have also been updates to Mission Control, which will make switching between programs easier and faster.
• Spotlight improvements: In addition to finding apps and files on your computer, Spotlight can now give you quick results from the Web about weather, sports, and a whole lot more.
• App updates and background security: As usual, there have been a number of smaller improvements to built-in apps like Safari, Notes, and Mail. El Capitan also includes some new security features to keep your computer safer, but since these mostly run in the background, they won't affect how you use your computer on daily basis.

Will my apps still be there after I upgrade?

Any apps you previously had installed on your computer will still be there once you upgrade. Some Apple apps, such as Safari and Calendar, will be updated automatically when you upgrade.

Will my apps still work after I upgrade?

Almost all apps installed on your computer should work correctly in OS X El Capitan. However, as with any new operating system some software may not be totally compatible. A simple Google search will often be enough to tell if an app will be compatible with OS X El Capitan.

If you are running the Flash Player uninstaller as part of your deployment process, redeploy any custom changes to either AutoUpdateDisable or SilentAutoUpdateEnable.

Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:

• Mac OS X, version 10.6 and later: uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg
• Mac OS X, version 10.4 and 10.5: uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg

The uninstaller is downloaded to the Downloads folder of your browser by default.

In Safari, choose Window > Downloads.

If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), click the Downloads icon displayed on the browser.

To open the uninstaller, double-click it in the Downloads window.

Note: If the Flash Player installer window does not appear, choose Go > Desktop in the Finder. Scroll down to the Devices section and click Uninstall Flash Player.

To run the uninstaller, double-click the Uninstaller icon in the window. If you see a message asking if you want to open the uninstaller file, click Open.

Bookmark or print this page so that you can use the rest of these instructions after you close your browser.

To close all browsers, either click the browser name in the Uninstaller dialog, or close each browser manually and then click Retry.

Note: Do not click Quit in the Uninstaller window. It stops the uninstallation process.

After you close the browsers, the uninstaller continues automatically until the uninstallation is complete. When you see the message notifying you that the uninstallation succeeded, click Done.

This isn't exactly a problem to be fixed as of yet. But rather information research. I've read several viewer comments &/or articles from other sites about the ongoing security issues if one uses Adobe Flash. But when I play videos on websites or youtube videos, I have to activate the adobe flash player (an option I opted for in the add-ons). I keep it updated but am wondering if there is an alternative program that Firefox will support on my Mac using El Capitan. I'm not computer savvy enough to understand what it means that some favorite website have already shifted to HTML5 videos or alternative technologies (not exact quote). Are there any suggestions? Or am I not asking the right question?
